Oshkosh 2025

EAA AirVenture Oshkosh is the world's largest aviation event, held every July in the state of Wisconsin, United States. For one week, Wittman Regional Airport becomes the busiest airfield on the planet — in 2025, more than 10,000 aircraft and nearly 700,000 visitors from all over the world gathered there. Aircraft arrive from both near and far, forming endless rows in the parking areas that stretch all the way to the horizon. Oshkosh is not just an exhibition, but a true pilgrimage for aviation enthusiasts: vintage aircraft, experimental machines, military planes, ultralights, helicopters, aerobatic aircraft, and even tankers — all gathered on a single airfield. In addition, spectacular airshows, workshops, and meetings with legendary pilots take place every day. Visiting Oshkosh at least once in a lifetime is the dream of every aviation enthusiast.
One of the most impressive legs of the journey was the flight across Greenland. The world's largest island is a world of its own when it comes to aviation — there are no roads connecting the towns, and an aircraft is often the only way to travel from one place to another. Landing sites are sparse and often located in extreme conditions: narrow fjords, ice and snow fields, or between steep mountains. The typical stopovers on a transatlantic flight are Kulusuk on the east coast, Nuuk on the west coast, and Narsarsuaq in the south — the latter especially well known for its challenging approach through a narrow fjord. Every landing in Greenland is an adventure in itself.
One of the most unforgettable moments of the journey was the stop in Ilulissat, a small town on the west coast of Greenland. The town lies along the famous Ilulissat Icefjord, which is part of the UNESCO World Heritage list. It is from here that the ocean's massive icebergs break off — including, once upon a time, the very one that sank the Titanic. The name Ilulissat actually means "icebergs" in Greenlandic. In summer, during the polar day, the sun never sets here — at 1 AM, it shines softly over the icebergs and the water glistens golden. For the Estonian team, this view will remain in their memory for a lifetime.
